I've been treating Whistler, our Pinto Filly, for an abscess for a couple days now. Usually you hear about horses getting them on their feet, but Whistler has one on her butt.
Don't worry, I called the vet.
I'm applying a warm compress for 10 minutes to try to coax puss out. It's pretty gross.
How is she doing? That's a strange place for an abscess--did your vet have an explanation for the location? Weird.

I think she got it from rubbing her butt on something. I found paint chips in her tail that match the color of the chicken coop.
